down the memory lane;my 29th & 30th birthdays!!

Just wanna share with you guys my 29th and 30th birthday dinner celebrations ;)

(Took this photo on my 29th birthday dinner at Chilli's restaurant - i think that time only 4 of us i guess: me, hubby, Stan & Anita?)

(This photo was taken on my 30th birthday dinner at the Dakota restaurant in Chilliwack - we got me & hubby, Lois & David, Collin, Elsie & Heidi, and Lin Liang & Ellen).

My 31st birthday celebration

This year hubby decided to celebrate my birthday at the Chilli's Thai restaurant, here in Chilliwack on Saturday nite 25/10/08. Before we left home, i called my mum in Sabah. Guess what- she didn't forget my birthday but my sister did hahaha she thought my birthday was yesterday in Malaysia time.I bet she must be getting old now hehehe

We got Stan & Anita and our very good friends Crystal, Woody & their daughter Vanessa for my birthday dinner ;)

(me, Crystal & Vanessa)

On Sunday 26/10/2008 - i woke up at 8 am, that's was my actual birthday ;) i was hungry & craving for McD breakfast. I quickly woke up hubby too, asked him to go with me. Initially he said no, McD is too cheap for my birthday breakfast! But i insisted wanna go to MCD :D

On the way to McD, hubby again asked me whether i really wanna eat McD breakfast, giving me another option i.e. White Spot restaurant - but i said no, go to McD. So we ended up with Eggmuffin, hasbrown & hot chocolate at McD in Luckakuck Rd :D so yummy!!!

mmmm when was the last time i ate at McD?? it must be more than 3 months ago...

(eeeya...after breakfast- i look bigger than hubby now hahaha)

last winter photos

i was browsing my portable hard drive, i found some of these interesting photos during winter months last year.

Fall/AUtumn is always cold now, i have to run the heater almost 24/7. Seem to me that this year we gonna have another white winter, even not everyday but maybe more snow than in 2005.

Enjoys these photos:

(somewhere in Manning Park, BC)

I remember on the way back to Chilliwack (from Manning Park), there was heavily snows storm & the road is mostly going down hill & it was really, really slippery! I was driving with full intense, while praying for God's protection. That's was one of the Winter driving experiences which i'll never forget - thankfully we arrived home safely!

(at the old site before we moved out)

(outside our home - sometime after we moved in)

Last nite, hubby had cleaned up the garage - so for Winter this year, we can park the truck inside the garage, no more hassle to clean up the snow from the windshield in the morning ;)

wow....i'm getting excited!!!

Guess what?? hehehe less than 7 weeks from now, we'll be travelling back to my hometown!!! I'm excited!! God's willing, (for the 1st time) me & hubby will be travelling together from Vancouver to Hong Kong then Malaysia! :D

I can imagine sitting next to hubby for 12 hours plus, plus flight, spent 2 nights in HK (i'm hoping we'll get the Sheraton hotel) then continue 3 hours journey from HK to KK ;)

Being around 7 months prego in Dec, i can be pampered little bit hehehe

We will spent X'mas in Sabah with my family this year :D yeah...all my tiredness are gone now when thinking about travelling to the other side of this world.

But before the 'home-town trip', we will be going to Winnipeg next month for a convention. Yes, another short 'vacation' before the longest haul 'vacation' :D

huh..now i dont remember what airlines it will be; JAL or Cathay?? Dont mind - i just getting excited now :D

my activities today

i woke up quite early today - at 8.00 am. Few minutes later, i felt hungry and decided to cook Rogers Oatmeal for breakfast. While waiting for the oatmeal to cook, i did my pilates for 20 minutes.

For breakfast, we got the hot oatmeal, toasted bread with marmalade & yogurt ;) Then i started working on my NCA letter and talked with Crystal on the phone. After bath & lunch, i left to the post office to mail my NCA letter.

Then i went to Wal-mart, bought 6pcs of baby's bibs (huh-not only lawyers need bibs when go to the High Court LOL). Came home around 3pm, checked mails & e-mails, then watched TV before decided to take a short afternoon nap ;)

cheh...I was about to doze off when hubby came to the bedroom while talking on the phone - so i have to get up as it was too late to try to nap again ;( After a simple dinner, i helped hubby cleaning up the garage.

After half hour, i stop and went back to the house - too tired but still got energy to up-date my blog hehehe...

soon i wanna write about my 'blast-one' 31st birthday celebration! :D

I've passed my Canadian Evidence law!!!!

Yahooooo!!!!! yesterday on the way to my Evidence law class at University of British Columbia, hubby called me. We finally received the result from the National Committee on Accreditation,Fed. Law Society of Canada that i've passes my challenging exam of Evidence Law with them.

I sat this exam sometime in August 2008 to fulfill the NCA's requirements for foreign lawyer in Canada. As the result was taking sometime to be released, i applied & got accepted in UBC to take the same subject plus another 1 as a back-up. Now that i've passed, i can withdraw this Evidence class from Ubc & i'll have more time for other plans..yes!!! Big Thanks be to God, Praise the Lord!!!

As at to-date, by God's blessing & grace i've passed 10 out of 11 Canadian law subjects required by the NCA.The NCA has had up-dated the website which is now the list of subjects grew from among 13 law subjects to 15 or 16 law subjects!

I only have 1 more subject to do in UBC, the 'Advance Criminal Procedure' then God's willing, i'll finishing this challenging exams by this Dec, hopefully ;)

Pre-natal Exercise

I dont really know what other prego women do as exercises during pregnancy - but as for me, i do prenatal pilates.

now is Autumn, the weather is always colder & wetter outside plus the day is getting shorter. I love walking, but my busy schedule plus the season were just not suit my desire to do lots of walking except inside the shopping malls hehehe. so sometimes, i just find excuses to do shopping or just window shopping as part of my exercise regimen.

I do pilates at home almost daily now, for at least 10 mins each time. I got my prenatal pilates dvd recently from the Zellers store. I used to do different kind of exercises including yoga before got pregnant. For the 1st few months of pregnancy, i stop doing it except walking but very active still in my movements. My chinese friends always worry to see me moving around as they said; i dont act like a pregnant women should be as in China lol...

My baby was asleep most of time last week til yesterday - now, she is back in action! She reacts to loud music, actively moving when me & her daddy were talking and while i was relaxing - such a good baby, for now LOL..

My Midwife Appointment Week 21-25

Today i went for my 3rd appointment (week 21-25) with the midwife. This time, Kim was away so another midwife named Elizabeth (if i'm not mistaken) covered for her. She was really good, as good as Kim ;)

My appointment went on from 10 am til 10.35 am. Yes, it is right with what i heard & read before:

"...recent surveys have shown that the average time a doctor spends with their patient during a prenatal visit is five minutes. Midwives usually spend more time with patients, while the doctor's or midwife's nurse or nurse practitioner spends the most time with the expectant mother."

I recalled during my visits with the family doctor in Mission, took only several minutes - i was very dissappointed on both visits. That's why i changed my family doctor and for this pregnancy, i get a midwife ;)

Before meet the midwife personally, i weigh myself & did the urine test for protein & glukose at the clinic.

Funny thing was I forgot how to use the weight measurement, so i get the midwife to help me. I'm so grateful to confirm that i only gained 2 and half pounds since the last visit in September LOL...i thought i've gained more than 10 pounds recently - that's why i was staring at the leveler, couldn't believe it hehehe protein & glukose level are normal ;)

Then Elizabeth performed these routines on me:

- reported that all blood screening and other tests that i've done, came back with good result!
- Checked my blood pressure & heart beat, all ok.
- checked the baby's heartbeat and measured the size of my uterus.
- (as per my request) checked and confirmed that i dont have any strecth marks yet

We also discussed about other pregnancy matters - Q&A session :D.

As i'm approaching 3rd trimester, my next appointment will be in every 3 weeks.

My baby's 3D/4D Ultrasound

Under God's protection & upon hubby's permission, here are (some)photos of my baby's 3D ultrasound, done on 22nd weeks at UC Baby in Langley, BC. The technician said that she was quite chubby & plumpy at her age ;D

One more thing, other people may see nothing special on these photos but me with the mother's instinct know exactly what i'm seeing here ;)

quite fascinating, so at least I got the 'clear imagination' on how my baby's look alike at this stage - still developing inside my body :D

This photo was taken at the begining of the session, baby was fully co-operating (considering her age) by posing towards the scanner camera - in some photos she was even smiling LOL:

And this is the photo taken at the end of the 30 mins session, where my baby decided that "ok,it's enough now, stop looking at my face" LOL, she covered her face with her tiny hands:

shopping day!!!!

Today hubby went to Victoria Island for a meeting. Me, i was home til noon then after lunch, i left for walking in the shopping mall in Chilliwack. While searching for my prenatal yoga dvd, i decided to see whether i can do some shopping for baby's stuff.

I went shopping at the Zellers & Sears - managed to find the dvds that i wanted and bought several baby's stuff - they were so cute. Have to keep reminds myself that the baby will be growing up so fast so NO NEED to be crazy buying to much stuff.

I remember reading somewhere about how a woman went crazy shopping for baby's stuff & spent about $4000-00!!! golly!!!

I just bought basic stuff for the baby & by looking at this photo, i bet you guys can guess what the baby's sex, dont you??? hehehe

yeah..IT'S A GIRL!!!! :D

Fetal development - 24 weeks pregnant

Today, my pregnancy marked the begining of the 24th weeks. I copy & paste the following article from the babycenter.ca website:

"Your fetus weighs more than 1.3 pounds/ 600 grams. Though she still has little body fat and her skin is thin and fragile, she's now well-proportioned. Her brain is growing rapidly, and she is starting to fill the space in your uterus. From crown to heel she could measure 11.8 inches / 30 centimetres. If you went into labour at this time, however, many obstetricians and midwives would make every effort to halt the progress of premature labour to enable your baby to continue maturing.

You may be noticing faint, red or brown streaks known as striae or stretch marks on your abdomen, hips and breasts. While creams won't erase them, wearing a supportive bra may help prevent or minimize them on your breasts. They are very common at this stage of the pregnancy -- about 90 per cent of women get them. After you've given birth, the reddish or brown pigmentation in the stretch marks gradually fades, and the streaks become lighter than the surrounding skin.

Also, your eyes may be light-sensitive and may feel gritty and dry. This is a perfectly normal pregnancy symptom known as 'dry-eye'. To ease your discomfort, use an "artificial tears" solution to add moisture.

A healthy diet is still important at this stage of pregnancy, so visit our eating well section for weeks 25-28.

• Note: Experts say every baby develops differently -- even in utero. These fetal development pages are designed to give a general idea of how a fetus grows in the womb
."

Well, i haven't notice any sign of strecth marks yet but i do have the linea nigra, a dark line of pigmentation, which appear down the centre of my abdomen. Even so, i've started using the cocoa butter lotion just to reduce the strecth marks scars later after delivery.

And this is my photo with my dear hubby and my mum-in-law, Lois Leona Spangler:

Vernon Trip

We went to visit grandma Bergey and to attend a surpise 60th birthday party of a family friend in Vernon recently. We arrived Vernon around midnite on 4th Oct. The following day on Sabbath, we went to Vernon SDA Church for worship. This is one of the photo i took during the Special Music:

After church service, we drove Grandma home then went back to our hotel for changing cloths. We went out for walking around Vernon, and i took these photos:

Around 4pm, we went back to the hotel and rested. Then 6pm, we went to the hall for the party. There were quite lot of people. The party started around 7pm, good food and good entertaintment. One of the amazing thing was the birthday lady whom turned 60 looks so gorgeous!!! She look way much better than her 1960's,1970's and 1980's photos. I wanna look great like her too when i turned 60 hehehe.

These are some of the photos during the party:

Funny incident in Kamloops, BC

on 3rd Oct, after the 4D ultrasound appointment in Langley then followed by a simple dinner at my MIL's home, me & hubby left to Vernon (about 400km from home) around 8.10pm. 30 mins later, hubby asked me to drive as he was so sleepy. Even i was grumbled a bit, coz i love hubby so much, so 'no choice' i have to drive :D

Hubby was supposed to take over driving once we reached Merrit. However, i didn't have the heart to wake him up when we're passing by Merrit. My right leg was bothering me, and I started to feel irritating driving. These combinations encouraged me to keep driving til we reached Kamloops (about 300 km from Chilliwack).

At the same time, i wanted to pee too. As soon as we reached Kamloops (hubby was still asleep), i quickly drove to the familiar Shell gas station.

It was already 10.30 pm, i parked the truck and as i jumped out from the truck, i told hubby "Dear, we're in Kamloops now. You'll drive but i need to pee 1st".

By the time i left the truck, hubby was already got up and i remember seeing him standing next to the truck. But then funny thing happened after that.

Hubby was driving out from the Shell parking lot, and we have these conversation:

Hubby: how come i can't turn left here?

Me: what turn left, the highway is here on right turn.

hubby: huh..right turn? the highway is over that side, right?

me(now confuse): what highway over that side? look that's the highway, next to us.dont you remember this place?? turn right, turn right.

hubby(drove to the right but blurr??):where are we??oooooooo we're in Kamloops. I thought we're in Merritt!!

me:(burst to laugh) eeeyahh!!! i thought i told you we're in Kamloops. dont u see the Shell station next to the Tim Hortons?

hubby (also laughed): yeah...in Canada, that's not the only Shell station that next to Tim Hortons. i was asleep and suddenly woke up in between of Shell & Tim Hortons, how am i suppose to know that i'm in Kamloops.i din't hear u said we're in Kamloops, all i heard was u need to pee hahaha

me: hahaha yea you're right, i forgot about that. so are u awake now?

hubby: oh yea, i'm awake. i was just confuse because in my mind, i was thinking to drive from Merrit. No wonder Merrit looks so developing now, in fact we're in Kamloops..

We arrived Vernon around 12 am and stay at the Best Western Hotel for 2D2N.

Young adults get together

Tonite we went for dinner with our young adults group in Abbotsford. It was supposed to be at the Ed&Me Pizza Parlour restaurant at 6.30pm but since that restaurant can't accomodate 30 pax of us, we moved to the Mango Tree restaurant, also in Abbotsford.

I was so grateful that we changed the venue. I wasn't into eating pizza tonite but have to go to accompany hubby whom likes pizza so much. Mango Tree is a Thai restaurant - so happy to eat Asian food that not cook by me tonite hehehe

I ordered vegie green curry with steam rice and hubby ordered pad thai. We shared each other's food - that's the beauty of being husband & wife LOL... hubby ordered for me to take home a green papaya salad which turned out that i ate little bit of it at the restaurant shared it with some of my Caucasian friends-amazing to find out that some mat saleh lady can take hot food hahaha

We finished eating around 8pm. while the rest of them left to our Pastor's house for movie & game nite, m e& hubby have to rush back to Chilliwack coz hubby will have a meeting with Stan & Collin at the office. That's one of the 'not beauty' being a businessman's wife LOL...

So tonite, i ended up sitting in front of the tv in the living room, up-dating my blog while accompanied by our neighbourhood cat, Kitty. Kitty usually doesn't like to come inside the house, maybe it is too cold outside that she decided to rest indoor tonite.

Hubby's 34th Birthday!!!

Yesterday 16 Oct 2008 was my hubby's 34th birthday! :D

No big party of celebration; only me & hubby at home. We wanted to go out for dinner with some family members but due to some reasons, we have to postpone it til next week.

How we celebrate it: just a small tiramisu cake with a candle (hubby says 'so cute' hehehe) with sparkling apple & grape juice and a card! and yea, i sang "Happy Birthday" to him to while carrying the cake from the bedroom - hubby was sitting in the living room that time ;)

He made a wish that had been granted by God (lol)...then i prayed for him.

These are the photos taken last nite:

(and i loves this photo)

Thanksgiving Dinners 2008

Canadian celebrates Thanksgiving on 2nd Monday every month of October. This year we have 2 seperate family Thanksgiving Dinner. Sorry, didn't bring my camera along for both occasions, so no picture was taken :(

1st Dinner was at my mother-in-law's home in Abbotsford on Friday nite, Oct 10th. There were my MIL & her husband, David; my SIL, Gina and her son, Jack; me and hubby, and my BIL, Collin & his wife, Elsie. As most of the family members are vegetarian, no real turkey was served but only vegie turkey with other food like mash potato, baby carrot, peas, etc.

2nd Dinner was at my father-in-law's home here in Chilliwack, just few block away down the road from our house but on a different street. The Dinner was held on Sunday nite, Oct 12 and this time got real turkey with gravy & stuffing but i didn't eat. Worry if hubby will puke if i eat turkey in front of him LOL...just kidding as the real truth, i don't eat turkey! Save the turkey meat for other people to enjoy it hahaha

There were my FIL, Stan with his wife Anita; Anita's Dutch parents Fred & Grace (whom we called them Opa & Oma), Anita's son Corbin & his gf Megan; me & hubby; and Gina & Jack. Gina's hubby Glen was not available to come home this year to celebrate with us in BC.

That's my Thanksgiving celebration story for this year! :D

you know it is autumn...

It has been almost a month since the Fall/Autumn season set in. Just wanna share that you'll know it is autumn when you see these:

Leaves changing colour from dark green-yellowish-oranges-reddish-Fall to brownish and dissapear.

You know Autumn is here when the weather is not soo good, the temperature between 8-12 degree in Lower Mainland and the sky is always 'crying':

You know it is Fall when the tree become "togel" hahaha:

why I changed my skin-care products?

I remember the day i arrived in Canada 3 years ago, i was looking for St'Ives products for my skin-care regimen. However, believe me that this brand does not offer any toner in my area's market. Very weird!

I'm a firm believer of consistence & same-brand skin care product. Whether i'm a firm follower to obey the 3-steps, twice a day, that's a different story LOL...Since St' Ives does not carry the full range of skin-care product, i made a decision to try Neutrogena. This brand does wonderfully especially the "Illuminating skin polishing enzyme peel" :)

so if Neutrogena is good, why did i changed to Estee Lauder? Let me tell you the story. As my skin is getting older, i was wondering if there is any other product in the cosmetic world does wonder for me.We can't avoid wrinkles and sagging skins but what we can do is to slow it down.

Almost 2 years ago, I happen to stumble on advertisement about Advance Night Serum by Estee Lauder from somewhere, not on TV. It took months for me to finally trying this product. I started with the sample which lasted several weeks for me. It does wonder - the 1st sign that was obvious was my pimples & acne heals very fast & no permanent scar left. Some of the light wrinkles (which just started to appear) were gone.

So i think, Estee Lauder is truly one of trusted skin-care brands. Since the prices range were not much different with Neutrogena plus can last for months (depends on how we use it), i gradually changed my skin-care regimen overtime from Neutrogena to Estee Lauder. As i was always travelling oversea before, i got chances to buy Estee Lauder products at the airport with tax free.

3 years ago, i still remember: when i touch my face, i can feel the bumps underneath the skin. Now, it's all gone. Only once a while i got pimple & acne but i can tell that my face skin is really, really smooth. Hubby always praise that i look radiant all the time :D I think that must be the combination of eat well, drink enough water, better weather and better skin-care regimen.

(Warning: this post is more on "angkat bakul" session LOL)

shopping trip to Surrey, BC

on Oct 12, 2008 - hubby went to Abbotsford with some of Chinese friends to pick up furniture for the office from his uncle's place.

As for me (& the Chinese ladies), Prof. Lisa & Holly, we decided to go o Surrey for little shopping trip. We left home around 11.30 am and i was the driver of Lisa's Ford Explorer truck. Over here, they called a big car as a truck. I've driven her truck many times now & i really enjoy it.

See the photo of the Ford Explorer below:

This truck is way bigger than my Jeep Liberty :) but i still loves the Jeep Liberty as it is easier to handle for city driving.

While driving down to Surrey, not far from home yet - i saw our Jeep & the trailer were coming from the other direction. I quickly honked hubby & get my subscripted sunglasses. yeah..have to wear sunglasses to prevent wrinkles around the eyes LOL...

We arrived at the Guildford Shopping Centre in Surrey around 12.20 pm - went to Motherhood Maternity store to exchange clothing that i bought on Friday before. For a normal price of $35.00 maternity skirt, i exchanged it for another 1 maternity skirt, 1 legging pant & 1 camisole ;)

Then we moved on to the Bay where i got another very good deal on Estee Lauder products.Since i was almost ran out of toner, i decided to buy the biggest bottle. in USA, it will cost about US$29.50 but for some reasons, eventhought it cost about Cad$39.00 in Canada, i dont mind buying it here as i can use my 10% off HBC coupon and collects HBC points that will automatically transfer to Airmiles points later.

Beside the toner, i bought a Hydra Bright moisturizer (in special package - see photo)for Cad$57.00 (in USA US$47.50):

Another best deal that i got from buying those 2 products was i get a GWP (gift with purchase). Currently, the Bay does not offers any GWP for Estee Lauder. So how did i get the GWP? Ask the friendly promoter hehehe. She told me that if i buy those 2 products which value more than Cad$100.00, she can give me the last month ended promotion GWP. Yes!!! Sold!!!

With less than $100.00 (with coupon), i got the 4-pcs skin regimen (full size Hydra Bright mosturizer with small sizes of Cleanser, Advanced Night Serum & Pore Minimizing Serum), 1 big bottle of 400ml toner and GWP consists of 2 cosmetic bags,a full-size lipstick, 4 colours eye-shadow, 7ml Hydra Bright moisturizer, 30 ml Smoothing Manicure/Pedicure Treatment lotion (i was wishing to try this product couple months ago) and 2.8ml mascara.

I can tell you, i walked out from the Bay with BIG SMILE!!! Holly asked me whether i regularly use those stuff, i said 'yes' and asked her to touch my face. She said "wow...very smooth like silk" :D

From the Bay, we went to the Asian supermarket, the T&T. By then, i was hungry and since my 2 friends reluctant to have lunch (they have brunch before we left actually), so i went to the Food Court alone :( O well, pregnant woman can't escape meal. As for me, must eat before i become really, really hungry to avoid over-eating later.

After lunch, i joined my friends do groceries shopping in T&T till 2.30pm. We arrived home around 3.20pm, just enought time for Holly to get ready for her evening working hours.

latest news about my pregnancy

this is not soooo new, but few days old news. just dont have chance to upload earlier.

At my last midwife visit (18th Sept), i did a blood test to screen my risk having a DS baby. The result came a week after where the midwife called me about it.

Kim said that i do not need to do any further screen test as my result was really good. The risk having a DS baby very, very low with me i.e. only 1:13,000. Thanks be to God! :D

Today, we're going to see our baby via the 4D ultrasound in Langley. Yes!! I'm excited to see my baby - not in black & white 2D but real movie of 4D :)

I think my baby was asleep few minutes ago, but now after i done with my 20 min shiatsu massage, the baby is awake! :)
