Polson Park, Vernon

On Sabbath afternoon, me, hubby & Jade walked at the park close to the hospital. It was quite chilly - it's was the beginning of Spring season anyway!!!

See...flowers are blooming, some just coming out from the ground...

Some trees are now look greenish while others still brownish...

And the birds and ducks were 'lepak'ing at the park...

Jade at 2 months plus

Jade is now almost 9 weeks old. Last week Friday, we went to see my family doctor. Jade's weight was 11 lbs 2 oz and her length was 58 cm. Wow..1cm per week?? We're guessing that she will for sure taller than me and may be will be taller than her father! Wait & see ;)

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit

Above is the Legislative Building in Victoria Island.

Last weekend we went to Victoria Island to visit hubby's relatives. It is Spring time, as we driving around town that afternoon we can see most of cherries trees were blossoming ;)

On the way home, we passed by the University of Victoria..next to the roadside saw this wild rabbits all over the place

Yea..those rabbits were really safe here...i think if it is in Malaysia, sure jadi BBQ arnab hahaha

now you smile, now you don't

I took this photos the other day when Jade was seating on her father's lap while the father was having a lunch at home:

"What's up with the unbutton jumper" I asked my hubby and he said "Jade is hot"...yeah, right...

Chilliwack is currently at the early stage of Spring season - average temperature is below 12 degree daily.

I was sitting across the table, I took few more snaps of Jade til she gave me this expression when I was about to stand,

maybe she was thinking i wanted to leave her? Talking about baby's seperation anxiety hehehe..then i sit down again and talking with her, she gave me this

Baby car seat

I always prefer to carry my baby on my arms but here in Canada, it is impossible to do it while travelling by car as it is compulsory to use baby-car seat for baby here.

Hubby got a 3 in 1 baby car seat while i was in Malaysia, but then i don't like it coz i think it was not suitable or not the right size for baby Jade at her age.

So few days ago, we went to Sears and bought this nice baby car seat with stroller for Jade:

I really like this gadget, despite the price was quite expensive but not too much coz it is one of the smallest & compact baby-car seat & stroller that i can find in the market here.

Jade likes this baby car seat too..she can easily fall asleep (when her tummy is full LOL).

Jade, my little traveller

I thanks God for giving me such a good baby. Jade is an easy-care for and very good little traveller.

on 5th day, all of us went to deal with her Malaysian birth certificate and passport in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

on 8th day, we brought her with us to visit the Monsopiad Cultural Centre in Penampang, sabah.

on 10th day, we went to the beach and sightseeing in Pitas, Sabah.

on 11th day we went for my family trip to Kudat, Sabah.

on 12th day, we flew to Kuala Lumpur to deal with her oversea paperworks.Thruout the flight, no fuss and cry at all.

On 14th day, we went to Malacca and spent 2 nites there.

On 16th day, we were in Port Dickson.

On 17th day, we were in Nilai to spent time with my younger brother Tilu.

On 20th day, we flew oversea and traveled at 3 different places by flights in Asia.

Closer to her 2 months old, Jade was in Japan then finally reached Canada for the 1st time on 31 March (Canadian time).

Confinement?

Hehehe if you married with a Mat Salleh, very hard to do traditional confinement. So that was my case. I'm a very reasonable and logic person, so i did the same for mine so called "Confinement" too.

I didn't stay & confined myself inside the house thruout my 'pantang' days. As soon as i discharged from the hospital, we (hubby, me & baby) live at Courtyard Hotel in KK, then after 3 nites at my mum's home, we moved from hotel to hotel in several places til we reached Canada on 1st April (Malaysia time).

What i've done was just "do & dont" in logical & reasonable manner. For 40 days i didn't take any cold and too much spicy food (hard for hubby to understand this LOL). Can you imagine, he bought me an ice-cream yogurt the day i came to the hotel from the hospital LOL... No fish for the 1st week either.

And i didn't take shower for the 1st 2 weeks except just "lap2 badan", then shower once a week after that til 40 days lapsed. Lucky for me coz we stayed mostly in an aircondition building in several places, so the urge to shower just not there for me :)

As soon as 40 days gone, i took shower that was the longer i ever had before LOL...scrub all over my body to remove dead cells...couldn't imagine how thick my dead cells were, til my skin was so rough! It took me 3 weeks to get my skin smooth again ;)

What i ate, just normal food like other people eat plus the following:

For 2 weeks i drank the black fish essence with american ginseng, 2 bottles per day.
For 10 days, i took herbal pills of Wu Kim Yuen to break the big chunks of blood inside the womb for easy flow.
For 30 days i took herbal pills of Soo Hup to expell winds from the body
and for as long as i stayed in Malaysia (that was 12 days after delivery), i drank Malta every day.
And i think i only ate the 'sup ayam with samsu" once and drink a kind of root to prevent the uterus from dropping ( that's what the elder people told me)..you know how our orang tua acts...hehehe

I started walking the following day after C-sect surgery and after discharged, the 1Borneo Mall was my 2nd exercise place to walk, and walk, and walk.

A baby without any wrinkle

Just exactly what i wished for, a newborn baby without any wrinkle LOL...that's why
i ate durians once per trimesters during my pregancy! :)

I've seen the same result with my nephew Evans. He was born without any wrinkle too, his face was plumpy, that's amazed me. My sister in-law was eating durian during her pregnancy too.

The rule is be under control when eating durian during pregnancy ;)

Jade Christabelle Rogers

Jade was born right on estimated due date 4th February 2009 at 12.33pm in Sabah Medical Centre (SMC), Luyang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Her weight was 3.64 kg (8 lbs) and length was 50 cm.

Do not be surprised to see the photo of a proud daddy & his daughter below. Jade was born with very strong bone. She wasn't like a newborn (except her skin color that sometime turn out very red under the sun). Right from birth, she can move her head independently and she know how to freeze & straighten her back bones when you hold her.

The arrival of baby Jade

3rd February - decided to stand-by in KK. Left Kota Marudu around noon. All afternoon, we just 'ronda2" KK then checked in at Courtyard Hotel, 1Borneo.

11.00 pm - took shower, after sushi dinner with Sally & her sister.
11.30 pm - i was just laying down to rest when i felt water coming out from 'there' ;)...called my sister, and she advised to go to the hospital.
11.50 pm - water kept coming out, so we left the hotel to the private hospital Sabah Medical Centre (SMC) Luyang.

4th February

12 am - While hubby was dealing with registration at the emergency unit, a nurse brought me to the labor room for monitoring - no pain, no contractions but confirmed the water was amniotic fluids.

12.20 am - went back to our private room, hubby stayed with me and we played scrabble til 3.30 am.

8.15 am- i was moved back to the labor room for check-up, only mild contractions thruout the nite. The ObGyn came, performed check-up. The result were dilated only 1cm and baby still very high. Options: induction or C-sect, so i chosed the later.

8.30 am-12pm: Fasting.

12 pm: C-sect procedure begun. Hubby came in just in time when i needed someone to hold my hand; i felt dying coz of the baby pressure against my chest and i can't breath properly. As soon as hubby hold my hand, i got the strength to stay awake.

12.33 pm - Baby Jade was pulled out, i heard the ObGyn said "Wah..she is so long". Jade cried aloud announcing her arrival! As the ObGyn cut Jade's unbilical cord, the ObGyn put her in between of my leg then once it was done, the Ped bought her next to my head where i can see her. She was purple and fluffy!!! Then the Ped carried her away for clean up and medical check-up. Guess what? Hubby also left to see the baby LOL..

1.15 pm - I was back to my room where Jade, Cameron, my mum, my sister and her family were there already. My sister quickly put Jade next to me for nursing, and that baby, just like magic latched on!

Ranau, Sabah trip

Came back from Brunei, we decided to go to Ranau on 30th Jan. We stayed 1 nite in Ranau.

Late afternoon 30th, we went to the Sabah tea plantation - sound great but there was nothing really special at the plantation.

On 1st Feb, we spent half day at the Poring Hot Spring. We spent 1 hour soaking in the private hot-spring tub, then went to the Butterfly Garden and hiked up& down to the Canopy Walkway.

From the Canopy, we got our lunch at the restaurant inside the park - it was a buffet style and i got the chance to eat the 'jeruk bambangan' (wild manggo) ;)

On the way back from Poring Hot Spring, we went to see the Rafflesia blooming, just few metres away from the road side. We paid about Rm30 just to view it though..

On the way home, we stop at the War memorial Park in Kundasang - the place is really look great now.

It was time for dinner when we hit the Kinabalu Park. After drove up to the Timpohon Gate, me & hubby got our dinner at the restaurant inside the park.

Along the way KK-BSB-KK

I recalled what i've seen along the way:

A small town that was flooding

The main road to Sarawak was flooded:

1 minute ferry ride

A biker with an interesting bag

A nice view of the sky in Sipitang
