checking out the Lilypie..

oh yes!! the Lilypie.com does working in my blog hehehe

so today i'm 20 wks & 4dys! :D

kebosanan melampau..

adus...semenjak 2-3 hari ni, rasa bosan ja lah. hari ni terpaksa escape kelas Evidence.

9.30am, crossed the border, pi Bellingham, USA. At 1st, just to check mailbox & pi Bank of America di Sumas but then since already passed the Immigration post, jalan trus pi shopping di Bellingham.

I went to Linen & Things & bought myself a back & shoulder massager. Ni sejak pregnant, badan kdg2 rasa sengal2 ja. so dgn adanya massager ni, hubby pun boleh rilex. Usually hubby rajin massage me every nite, but recently kesian jugalah dgn hubby. Dah penat kerja di ofis, biarlah dia rilex bila balik rumah kan. Someday, I'll upload the massager photo here.

Then, i went to Bellis Fair Shopping Mall, jalan2 cari makan. It was already 12pm. I was in hurry, just tapau lunch & drove back to Canada. Apakan daya, there was road construction on the way home, then at the border have to q to pay Canadian tax. By the time i fully crossed the border again, it was already 1 something p.m.

Calculated lah x cukup masa to reach UBC on time for 2 pm class, so just turned East, back to Chilliwack. But on the way home, sempat tu singgah di Tyme Maternity store. Beli lagi 2 pasang maternity blouse yg ada gaya & style sikit hehehe..

Now, at 7pm home alone - rasa bosan yg teramat sgt! Lucky lah the baby is actively moving, reminds me that i'm not totally home alone LOL.

Hubby always come home late from his office. Cant hardly wait to have this baby around so i'll have someone with me at home while hubby is busy working :D

Hubby learning Malay words..

Hehehe just the other day, on the way to Vanvouver for Consulate of Malaysia "Merdeka Day" celebration, i teached hubby a Malay sentence:

"Bodoh mcm lembu" hahaha

What is the English translation? MMM the sound in Malay is way better than the English translation. Hubby know the meaning of sentence as i've explained to him. Can't stand if someday, someone in Malay said like that to him but then he can't understand it right on the spot.

However, being brought up in a family of full of 'budaya timur', i did give warning to hubby not to simply says "lembu" to any Malaysian LOL...

Yeah..sometime i do miss talking in Malay, using all the "simpulan bahasa" and the "bahasa berkias"..just dont know how to do it in English though..

gifts from a Secret Sister

Yesterday at church Mom passed to me a basket of gift (filled with cokelats, cocoa butter lotion, bath foa, candle, foot lotion and a note) with a prego pillow. Yea, thats the gifts froam a Secret Sister - a program runs by the Women Ministry where i'm one of the Committee members.

I never really involves with Women Ministry before, nope til this year. I'm 1 of the youngest Committee members as the rest of them are women above 40's. They are happy to have a youngster in the Ministry.

How to play this "Secret Sister"? At beginning of the year, we've put down a list of women names attending the Aldergrove SDA Church and a box of name cards on a table in the church. The program was started when a woman (the secret sister) pull out a name card from the box, strike out the name from the list & fill a basket of gifts.

On weekly basis, a woman whom receive a gift from the secret sister will pull out another name from the cards (a new sister) & strike out the name from the list. The woman then have to refill the basket with another gift for the new sister to collect on the next Sabbath.

This will goes on until all the names card have been pulled out and none name left on the list unstrike.

Dont know yet what i'm going to fill in the basket...maybe something to do with crafts, i guess.

me at 20th week

I took the photo above on Wednesday @ 19th wks & few days. On Tuesday (a day before) i went for my pre-natal appointment in Abbotsford. I gained another 3.8 pounds, from 141 pounds (64kg) at my 16th weeks pregnancy to 144.8 pounds (65+ kg).

We dont know yet what is the baby's sex, we will know (God's willing) in 2 weeks time when we do the 4D ultrasound in Langley.

And i took the above photo this morning, after big breakfast...yay, i can feel the baby is awake now, the baby is poking my tummy hehehe

20th week of pregnancy

Today marked my 20th week of pregnancy, half-way before the bundle of joy arrive! Let see what is happening inside my tummy this week:

This is the week most women get that ever-important gender-revealing ultrasound. If your baby isn't shy, the genitals can be clearly seen at this point. Will the baby pee standing up or sitting down? Well, that depends on how you potty train—but if you're interested, you could leave the appointment knowing if you're carrying a boy or a girl. Other highlights this week:

Your baby has established sleep patterns akin to a newborn now. Many babies even have a favorite sleep position already. Some snooze with their chins resting on their chests, while others nap with their head flung back. Many babies at this age fall into noticeable cycles of sleep and activity, so you may know before she arrives whether you have a night owl or an early bird.

If your baby is a boy, the testes have begun descending from the pelvis into the scrotum. If it's a girl, her uterus is completely formed and the rest of her "parts" are in development. (Is that TMI?)

From this point forward, your baby will put most of her energy into gaining weight and, not coincidentally, so will you! Right now your baby weighs approximately 10½ ounces and is about 6½ inches long, about the size of a can of Red Bull (which has way too much caffeine for a pregnant woman to be drinking).

Baby 1st moving a.k.a quickening

"
Bubbles. Butterflies. Gas. These are all words used to describe what a baby's first movements feel like to a mother.

Quickening is defined as the first time you feel your baby move. This is a long anticipated event in every pregnancy.

If you are expecting your first baby you can expect to feel your baby for the first time between 18 and 24 weeks gestation. If this is not your first baby you can expect to feel your baby a bit sooner than you felt your first. This is usually said to happen because you know what you're feeling for and your uterus is more stretched out than it was the first time around
."

Yes!!! I finally felt it without paying much attention! :D

On Wednesday afternoon as i was laying on the bed, relaxing while surfing the internet ( i put my laptop slighty on top of my tummy with a cushion underneath it), all of sudden i felt something was moving underneath the cushion. Didn't pay much attention til after the 3rd move, then i paused the Korean movie online and was thinking "what is that??? oh my...that's the baby moving" LOL

The baby moved again, and again, some i felt quite gently and some quite hard, it was like the baby was turning around. Yeah, now i realized that i got the same sensation sinc last week, but since it was very, very gentle but overclouded by my ligaments strecthing, i was never really bother. God's willing, the baby will be around inside my tumy for the next 4 mths plus, so why in hurry wanna feel it, rite?

So enjoy my comfy belly, baby!! wanna hear some music?? :D

lilypie.com

came across with this pregnancy calendar ticker during my 5th week, but only posted it here today at 20th week.

see whether this Lilypie is working on my blog or not hehehe

craving of durian

Remember at my previous blog, i've mentioned about went driving up to Surrey on Saturday nite? Yup, we actualy went to T&T Supermarket in Surrey. I saw several big durians, and i bought 1. Guess how much was it?

It was Cad$11/kg or equal to about RM35/kg! So sanggup to buy still... it was durian imported from Thailand and weighed about 2kg. No regret as the 'isi' was very enak, sehingga menjilat jari. Took me 3 days to finish this 1 big durian LOL..

See how 'montok' the 'isi', thick about 3inch! I only managed to eat 2 'ulas' on Saturday nite.

My hubby is really special. He don't eat durian but he can stand the smell! I'm really proud of him! Imagine how strong this durian smell, but yet he never complaint anything. And ya, i'm so 'untung' coz i no need to share this durian with anybody else except my baby inside me, talking about being greedy LOL...

It is a miracle too that there is no durian smell left in our Jeep.

Now, i'm thinking to buy another bigger durian in T&T Supermarket tomorow hehehe...

my love @ 1st sight...

what can i say about love at 1st sight?

as i'm relaxing & enjoying my quite afternoon, listening to the birds singing outside in the garden, all of sudden i remember the moment when me & hubby met in person for the 1st time.

i got to know my hubby thru our church connection, via a very trusted website run by an Adventist couple in USA. It was by God's plan that i came across to the website. Being a person who wasn't believe in internet relationship, i just registered myself for pen-pal & friendship purpose, without any photo, even mentioned in my profile that i was 'a hot temper & moody' and 'no Canadian or USA'.

Guess what, just after a month then i got the 1st e-mail from hubby with the subject 'Canadian guy'. I was like "what???? canadian guy?? does he not read my profile????" but out of curiousity, i went on read the e-mail anyway.

Why 'no Canadian or USA'? 1st reason because during those time i was truly believed that orang putih are smelly hahaha (tell me if u ever passing by any org putih in Malaysia - hello, i'm talking about the traveller and are they smell good?? hehehe - so that's why i thought org putih was really malas mandi hehehe.

2nd reason - 'prevention is better than cure'. Once u fell in love, it's hard to back off. How if i fall in love with American or Canadian? I wasn't willing to leave Malaysia at all before i met my hubby.

Anyhow, upon reading my hubby's 1st e-mail, i decided that nothing wrong just replying as pen-pal.(mmmm hubby wrote such a beautiful introduction of himself - made my heart 'cair'/melted to go vs my 'no Canadian or USA' preference hehehe)

We wrote to each other for several months & then hubby came to KL one day earlier than scheduled. That time i was working in KL, i still remember clearly the moment when our eyes 1st met...

As usual, i worked til 6pm that day but couldn't leave immediately as my Kembara was blocked by another lawyer's car in the parking lot. 6.15pm, the other lawyer left & as i was walking towards the main door, 1 of the staffs came in & said 'Jackie, there is a mat salleh looking for you outside"

I said 'what mat saleh?' She said 'mmm i dont know, maybe your client'. I said 'what mat salleh client? i'm going home now. i dont have any mat salleh client. it's mr.xxx client, i think". The staff said "but he mentioned Jackie" & as i reached the door, i said 'no, tell mr.xxx', i was already outside.

Lo & behold...there was the mat salleh 'client' standing at the gate with a bouquet of flowers in his hand & luggages next to him, with his big smile. I was like 'black-out' for seconds, jaw dropped & speechless (imagine a lawyer became speechless)! My heart felt like been on electric shock - felt stop beating for a while then beats very fast, my eyes glued to him, my face turned colourful, i think & i was stand still!

OOOOO that how's it feel being in love at 1st sight hahaha...well, that's one of the signs that i asked from God, and He answered it! Later that nite, hubby told me that he experienced the same 'electric shock' too...but i think he got more courage than me, as even he was speechless, he was still walking towards me, kept smiling & handed me the bouquet, right in front of my 3 staffs whom were sitting outside the office building while me still in total Cloud 9 hahaha...

I'll never forget that sweet memory, created by a sudden visit of my now hubby. There are many reasons why i finally left Malaysia to be with this man. He is such a special man to me, very, very special.

last week activities

just got no chance to up-date my blog last week...(actually malas bah! hehehe)

overall, these were my activities during last week:

Monday - 10.30 am, after dealing with some banking stuff in Chilliwack, left to Bellingham for shopping ;D. I went to Bellis Fair mall, check out all the big & small stores but spent only USD$74 for maternity clothing. Can't spent too much money accross the border, if not have to pay Canadian tax later ;) Crossed the border again around 7pm & arrived home at 7.30pm.

Teusday - left home around 11.45 am for 2-4 pm Evidence Law class in University of BC. Class ended around 3.40 pm, & i left immediately, to save cost on parking fee. The parking rate is $1.50 every 30 mins & i've to pay $9.00 today. Crazy!!!!

Wednesday - left home around 12pm for 3-5pm Advanced Criminal Law class in UBC. Today paid $7.00 for parking! On the way home, drop by @ the oriental groceries store in Abbotsford to buy some stuff. Arrived home @ 7.30 pm.

Thursday - left home around 12.20pm. Arrived in UBC ten mins before 2pm. Quickly finished my lunch and went for the Evidence Law class. Today, Prof. Childs said she will talks til lose her voice...mmm she was getting tired around 3.35pm, so the class was ended early again. Paid parking $6.00.

Friday - 11 am, went for pre-natal ultra sound in Chilliwack General Hospital. The baby looks good but will have to wait until y next appointment with my healthcare provider to explain the result. We don't know the baby's sex yet, will do early next month when we go for the 4D ultrasound imaging in Langley :D

Saturday - went to Aldergrove SDA church, as usual for Sabbath worship. Then we went driving around Langley, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Surrey the finally home around 9pm. Cooked paste for hubby's supper.

Today Sunday - Sunshine (as usual) and i'm planning to clean up the nursery room & the car later in the afternoon. Evening, will do the ironing. What a busy week....

travel mood...

i was browsing my albums on my laptop, saw these photos...uhhh, i wanna go travelling again..

took those photos when i was in Singapore.

KK-Brunei-Singapore-Narita-Vancouver was the last by air trips that i've done in April this year :(

Our next trip will be to Winnipeg this Winter...mmmm 2 months to go still. Then in Dec, God's willing i wanna go back to Malaysia yehyeh!!! I'm thinking to take different route this time...maybe Vancouver-Manila-KK. Can hardly wait to travel again....

...everything to God in prayer...

This is one of my favorite songs:

"What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there troubles anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows shares?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer!

Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He'll take and shield thee
Thou wilt find a solace there
."

Yes - our best friend in this world will ever forsake us but those whom believe in Christ: we have our Best'est' Friend ever!!!! :D

One of my best friends: Crystal

Me & Crystal during Camp Meeting last month in Hope, BC.

I got to know Crystal at the church 3 years ago. We're attending the same Adventist Church in Aldergrove, members of the Young Adult Sabbath School class & we live at the same town Chilliwack. She is really a nice girl, honest & friendly but she is younger than me :D

We're still developing our close friendship :D well, it take years for a relationship to grow stronger, rite!

I miss my best friends in Malaysia...

Trip to Port Coquitlam

Today me, hubby & Liang Lin went to Port Coquitlam to get company documents from another business partner. Port Coquitlam is about an hour drive from home. We left Chilliwack around 10 am. Due to traffic jam, we only arrived in P.C around 11.30 am.

Lily (the business partner) just bought a $1mil house in P.C. The house was built on a hill, with view that looking down towards the Fraser Valley and only few minutes drive from a major shopping mall.

Did i envy the house owner? Not really as i'm not a fan with hilly residential area...so scared with "tanah runtuh" hehehe...hubby said it wont be happen here as the soil is really solid BUT who really know when the nature will attacks! :D

After meeting with Lily, we went to the mall for late lunch. I was so hungry already, but can't eat much. To satisfy my hunger, i bought a medium size of carrot juice. Hope my baby will get better eyesight later hehehe...

While hubby went to buy a new phone charger, i went to the Bay, as usual searching for maternity cloths. Anyhow, didn't buy anything coz nothing really caught my interest among the maternity cloths selection.

On the way home, as i was driving - i smelled something weird. Didn't say anything til after few kms, the smell getting stronger & i asked hubby & Liang Lin whether they smelled it. At 1st Lin said 'ooo it's nothing, just the truck in front of us"..

Few seconds later, as we stopped at the traffic light, i realized there was smokes coming out from the rear. (Thought maybe just regular smoke - but hey - what is that terrible smell that never goes away???)

Finally, i rolled down the window & asked hubby whom was at the rear passenger seat to poke his head out the window & check the rear tire. Yea..sure enough, the break of the left rear tire was 'smoking' huhuhu...

We waited for 45 mins at Kaltire, for them to find out what was happening...result: the break shoew was indeed locked - no body know how that happened.

Thanks be to God that nothing bad happen to us ;D

1st class @ Fac. of Law, UBC

today was my 1st class of Advanced Criminal Law @ Uni. of British Columbia. As i'm still dealing with my registration, hubby accompanied me to UBC. I'm so grateful he did so, as he really did helped me lots yesterday - he is one of the best supporter of me in this world! :D

Around 12 pm, we met the Senior Ass. Dean for some discussion. The Ass. Dean told us that i'm one of luckies got to be accepted as there were 120 NCA applicants applied to UBC, but only 2-5 NCA students only accepted each year due to the limited spots.

As a foreigner lawyer in Canada, it is not easy to get into the Bar here. I think the same scenario could be happen to any foreigner lawyer in Malaysia too :D

After meeting with the Ass. Dean, me & hubby went for lunch at the Student Union Building, few blocks away from Fac. of Law. Then, i went to my Advanced Criminal Law 1st class around 3pm. The lecturers, both practioners were really good! Reminds me about Ustaz (now i forgot his name) whom teached Islamic Law in UM Fac. of Law.

While i attended the class, hubby went to the law library. It is really great that anyone can just go into the law library in UBC & use their facilities. As compare to UM, i still remember clearly how the librarian will check each individual's ID coming to the library hehehe

The class ended very early yesterday. We're done by 3.30 pm but then i have to see another lecturer to get his signature. Unfortunately, he wasn't around anymore yesterday afternoon. So, me & hubby left UBC around 4 pm.

On the way to Vancouver downtown - to get a document from the lawyer's office - we have to stop at the bank. While hubby did some banking, me did went to a maternity store close by & bought a pair of good maternity jeans & suit for me ;)

Overall, i really enjoys our trip to UBC yesterday! :D

braxton hicks..

braxton hicks is not my baby's name would be ;) that's what they named it for the tightening sensations on the uterus during pregnancy.

as i'm getting ready to Vancouver this morning, i felt this sensation just slightly below my belly button (i'm only 17 weeks). I can felt my uterus was tightening, so i just lay down for a while & searching for this kind of sensation on the internet.

that's how i found out about 'braxton hicks' contractions, last about one to 2 minutes. They are very normal & fine unless happens more than 4 in an hour or last more than 2 minutes. Braxton hicks helps the uterus to get toned and ready for labor later.

What a relief to have easy internet access ;D

I'm going to law school again...

It's been more than 3 years since the last time i attended law courses in law school.
Since 2005 til now, I just study on my own for examination (twice a year)with NCA-Uni of Ottawa. For the last paper, I have to go to law school & I just been accepted to continue study at faculty of law, Uni. of British Columbia recently.

I'm still dealing with my course registration. Officially, academic year of 2008/2009 will be started tommorow til November then follow by exam weeks in Dec 2008. I'm thinking to celebrate X'mas this year in Malaysia!!! YES!!! :D

Til further notice from NCA-Uni of Ottawa (which currently i'm registered as a student til Jan 2009), i will studying in UBC for few months. It is really hard to get into a law school over here.

For me, it is really a blessing from God that i've been accepted as an Upper Student, without taking LSAT or TOEFL. I only need to take 2 or 3 courses to complete my NCA requirements. Overall, it won't be more than 8 credit hours, hopefully.

Thanks be to God that, I've passed 9 out of 11 law subjects required by NCA. 1 is pending result this Nov (cross finger i will pass it) and another 1 to be taken at law school - which i prefer UBC as it is closer to our home even have to drive about an hour 1 way/week. That's better than Ottawa which is hours flight from home LOL :)

1st Sept: Canada's Labor Day

This is one of the long weekend in Canada. I remember 1st May is Labor Day in Malaysia, but in Canada (and also USA), today is Labor Day.

Eventhough it's a long weekend, me & hubby didn't go anywhere. We're both tired & just wanna stay home & spend quality time together at home ;)

Since yesterday Sunday, we're busy arranging our new hobby of "coins collection". Hubby teachs me how to become a good coin collector. Hence, for now we're retiring our 'geocaching' hobby.

All day today was sunshine, as compare to yesterday: it was overcast lil bit. Yesterday i watched the news & found out that there was a snow in Alberta province huhuhu...snow in summer!!!!

Labor Day for us this year is to nap as much as we can LOL...
